PHIL founded Sporting Marvels in 2002 after being called out of a lucrative off-field career in professional Rugby Union where he was the architect of the Treorchy “Dream” before going on to hold some of the biggest jobs in Welsh and British rugby. The vision to put a positive Christian role model in front of every school pupil in Rhondda was timely, with less than 0.9% of Rhondda’s population regularly attending church according to the 2001 census, and it still burns brightly in his heart to this very day. At the beginning of the 2012/13 academic year, day-to-day management passed to Phil’s son, Lawrie, who had previously served his 5-year apprenticeship as a Marvel and then as Team Leader.
