2010 has certainly started with a bang for Jody Barnes, pictured below delivering a Mighty Marvels lesson to one of our junior school partners.
We say “bang” because 1st January sees Jody’s promotion to full Marvel! As you may know, Jody is something of a trophy for Sporting Marvels - the first person to be influenced by the ministry, saved and discipled under the ministry’s guidance, and now, working in and for the ministry! |

When Ricardo Erasmus (Picutred below running a mentorship group) arrived on our shores in January 2008, it was clear that he had the potential to be a truly outstanding Marvel.
Two years later, at the start of a new decade, Ricardo is back in his native South Africa – hoping and praying we can find a way to bring him back and extend his time with us! While his absence is being felt in many areas, it is none more so than in the mentorship groups he has created in Tonypandy Comp. |

Rhian (Picture Below) has had her status as a full Marvel confirmed after successfully completing her four month probationary period while Jody also becomes a full Marvel and started her probationary period on 1st January. |

Rhian first linked up with Sporting Marvels in August 2008. The former Miss Wales contestant and Welsh international rugby player was working in JJB in Merthyr pondering whether she should get on a plane and fly off to California! |

On 17th October, six All-Stars set off from Tonypandy Community College to Tanzania, East Africa! Four girls - Abi, Chelsea, Tamsin and Kate - and two guys, Couchy and Smithy: every one a gem and every one an All-Star for more than five years!
Led by Pastors John & Debbie of the Gatehouse Church, the team included Marvels Becky and Chris. |

Imagine how good it must make a Marvel feel when the headteacher of the school they are based at, speaks in glowing terms about the way in which they’ve affected for the good, the lives and attitude of school pupils.
Well earlier this month, Ricardo was in a lesson being formally assessed by Helen O’Sullivan, his headteacher at Tonypandy Community College! |

Sometime early in 2007, Chris Welman (our first Marvel) awoke from a dream where he’d “seen” an event that would involve all our junior school partners at the same time. That dream marked the birth of the idea and Christiaan being Christiaan, it didn’t take long to turn the idea into reality. |

As half term begins, it has now been almost two months since Sporting Marvels’ newest arrivals began their training, and for interns Anthony Barnhouse and Craig Billington, the last nine weeks has certainly been an experience! |
