Hang around the leaders and it’ll not be long before you get the impression that 2011 is already thought of as the best year yet in the history of Sporting Marvels!
And nowhere is this more evident than in the project’s out-of-school special events programme.
Team Leader, Lawrie, told us, “We’re a ministry that strives to be the best we can be and with the heart, enthusiasm and passion of our amazing team, it’s a fact that 2011 has seen more kids attend our events than the previous two years combined!!”
“The numbers are incredible really. The Adventure Days alone, attracted over a thousand kids, to say nothing of teachers and heads! The Cinderella Christmas Panto drew over 250 people into the Gatehouse Church to watch the team show off their acting abilities! Just Dance was a 100+ as were the Sports Day and the All-Star Presentation Evening, the latter also attracting over sixty parents! Then, to cap it all off, we had our best Summer Camp ever with 130+”.

“One of the sayings we have in Sporting Marvels is that the kids may forget what you say, but they never forget how we make them feel. They never forget the passion! It’s all about relationship and these great events help us build a platform for influence that lasts and lasts”.
With Christmas and the New Year nearly upon us, the pace is unrelenting. Up first is two performances of Aladdin, both of which were sold out four weeks before the event!!That’s over 300 people - a mix of kids, our partners, parents and school staff: all coming to church to the Gatehouse to watch the marvellous Marvels in action! What an amazing opportunity to win people and to share the passion, the heart, the fun and the message we carry!!
February half term sees Just Dance 2012; in March, there’s the ‘All-Star Challenge’ and April sees the All-Star Leadership Academy three-day Boot Camp. What an opportunity that’s going to be!! The busy summer programme sees the introduction of a new event - the ‘Mighty Marvels Presentation Evening’ which falls between the ‘All-Star Presentation Evening’ and Summer Camp!!
